The KHS Keating Center will be filled with award-winning musicians from St. Louis Symphony Orchestra members to Julliard graduates Dec. 22 to raise money for the Symphonic orchestra trip to Carnegie Hall

“We wanted to showcase current talent and graduatesfrom the musical world,” Patrick Jackson, orchestra teacher, said.

The money raised from the concert will go towards the fund to send the KHS Symphonic Orchestra to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City, March 28.

The orchestra has been practicing the “Hoedown from Rodeo” and will begin practicing “Our Creed is our Shield” soon, and will later add a third song to the play list.

“[For the audition] we submitted three contrasting orchestral works,” Jackson said. “Many orchestras and bands applied, but they only selected
three top high school ensembles.”

The musical groups at Carnegie Hall can be any combination of orchestras and bands, but this year it was three orchestras, Jackson
said.

“When we found out, I think we were all kind of ecstatic,” Kinsley said. “It was a great moment.”

The orchestra’s goal is to raise $72,000, but at the time, they only have around $64,000, Jackson said.

“This is the last major thing to end the year,” Jackson said.

Tickets are $20 and the concert starts at 7 p.m.
