KHS ranked 13th best high school in Midwest

KHS was ranked the 13th best high school in the Midwest Wednesday morning by The Daily Beast, a media partner of Newsweek. Schools were ranked based on ACT and SAT scores, rigor of courses (which includes the number of students enrolled in AP classes), graduation rate, number of students who receive free and reduced lunches and college acceptance rates, which were rated the most heavily. Ninety three percent of 2014 KHS graduates were college-bound.

Dr. Michael Havener, principal, was contacted by The Daily Beast three weeks ago, when he was asked for a picture of KHS. Havener was unaware of what exactly the ranking would be but knew KHS would be ranked.

“It’s a direct result of the students’, parents’, and teachers’ hard work throughout the school district,” Havener said.

KHS was also ranked third in Missouri by US News & World Report last year.

“It’s good news,” Havener said, “The community should be proud.”
