This weeks selection has been gaining an increasing amount of attention ever since it was played during the Wisconsin vs. Michigan State football game in October. And the attention is well deserved; ” Switchblade” is the perfect pump up jam.
Ironically, when I first listened to it, I was not that impressed. The first minute sounds like a B-side off of Lupe Fiasco’s latest mixtape…until everything changes.
When the chorus drops at 1:23, everything stops, and out of nowhere comes an incredible breakdown. The drums get loud, the bass drops very low, and the lead grinds and whirs like a sleek new sports car pushing 200 mph on the Autobahn. It’s exhilarating.
