Leaves

Fall Weather
In mid-September when the air is a bit crisper than the day before and you see the first red leaf hit the ground, you know the beloved fall weather has arrived. You can’t help but marvel at the rapid
change of the leaves and the luxury of cool temperatures. Fall weather marks the end of heatstroke, pit stains and sweat marks and the beginning of bonfires, sweatshirts and candy corn, which I think we all can appreciate.

Pillsbury Sugar Cookies

Begging my mom to bring home the Pillsbury sugar cookies with pumpkin and ghost designs from the store has become an annual tradition around my house. The mouth-           watering effect of these calorie-filled cookies make it nearly impossible to stop eating them which marks the beginning of the tooth-ache season.

 Halloween Movies

Disney Movies

Disney has made countless of amazing movies throughout the years, and something they should always be praised for are their Halloween ones. I’ll never forget my anxiety when Alex and Camryn were fighting the darkness in Twitches, or my excitement when I found out Marnie was going to college in Halloweentown. These Disney classics may not be scary today, but when October rolls around, my DVR is filled with all my favorites.

Pumpkin Carving

Inviting friends over to reach inside a pumpkin to scoop out the cold gooey ‘pumpkin guts’ is a classic fall activity. There are only so many times a year it is socially acceptable to completely cut apart something merely for the fun. It is also the perfect excuse to create a gross, slimy mess. It is always fun to compete with your friends to see who can create the best pumpkin designs and to sit back and marvel at the finished products while chewing on seasoned pumpkin seeds.

Football

Football Games

When Friday night football games begin, you know it’s fall. The excitement and spirit on these eventful nights makes you really feel like a part of the school. With the band playing, pommies and cheerleaders dancing and cheering, and of course the football team playing their hardest, it couldn’t make for a better night. I enjoy the loud screaming of the students when we score a touchdown with the Kirkwood flags running across the field and, of course, the “Hail Kirkwood” when we all come together at the  end.

Leaves

Once all the red, orange and yellow leaves fall off the trees in my backyard, my favorite thing to do is grab a rake from the garage andmake a pile of leaves to jump in. Having contests with family and friends to see who can build the biggest pile of leaves has been a tradition for many years. It is also nice to go on a walk and enjoy the weather and the crunching sound of the leaves when you step on them.

  Halloween Costumes

Every year, people of all ages run through neighborhoods and ring doorbells from house to house in search of the best candy. Some say thinking of the best costumes and showing them off to neighbors is the best part of Halloween. My favorite part would be creating the best costume and seeing if mine can be different from all the rest.
