For all the music enthusiasts out there, this is a comprehensive list of most of the new music that is scheduled to release this year.

Ariana Grande – “thank u, next”

Although Ariana Grande just released her album “Sweetener” in August 2018, she is expected to drop a new album titled “thank u, next” February 8th, 2019. The album is named after her No. 1 single and will also feature “7 Rings” and “Imagine” among others. Grande’s new album is expected to have a much darker tone and some have speculated that it is influenced by the passing of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and her breakup with fiancé Pete Davidson.

 

J.Cole – Revenge of the Dreamers 3

J.Cole’s music label Dreamville is making a collaboration album featuring J.Cole along with artists such as J.I.D, Bas, Vince Staples, Ski MaskThe Slump God, Saint Louis’ own Smino and many more. There is no release date yet, but J.Cole announced the end of the recording sessions on Jan. 16 so the album should drop sometime soon.

 

 

 

Childish Gambino

In 2018, Childish Gambino announced that his next album would be his last. Although Gambino hasn’t officially announced anything, he is headlining Coachella and Bonnaroo so fans are speculating he’ll release a new album this year. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Gambino said that his next album will be the last and that he wants to retire from music. No one knows if his new album will be R&B like “Awaken, My Love” or Hip-Hop like his other projects but fans are excited to listen to either way.

 

 

Chance the Rapper

Chance the Rapper’s Grammy-winning album “Coloring Book” dropped over three years ago and he is due for another full-length album. Chance dropped six singles last year and has confirmed a joint album with Kanye West and a solo album produced by Kanye. Expect both of these projects to drop sometime this year.

 

 

 

Kanye West – Yandhi

“Yandhi,” Kanye West’s follow up to his 2013 album “Yeezus” was supposed to be released back in 2018, but West has pushed the release date back twice now. The first time West pushed back the release date was to record more songs in Africa and the second time was after a long conversation with fellow Kids See Ghosts member, Kid Cudi.  It’s uncertain exactly when the album will be released but it should be sometime this year.  

 

 

Rihanna – Title TBA

Rihanna’s last album “ANTI” was released all the way back in 2016 but Instagram Rihanna announced her next album will be released in 2019. According to Rolling Stones Rihanna has over 500 recorded songs and is in the process of choosing the ten that will be on her album. There is no release date set.

 

 

 

The Weeknd – Chapter 6

During a concert in Toronto, The Weeknd announced that his next album “Chapter 6” is coming soon. There is no official release date for “Chapter 6” or any real information on the project yet, but The Weeknd recently released a single titled “Lost in the Fire”. Expect a few more singles from The Weeknd before he releases “Chapter 6”.
