Ingredients for pie crust:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

¾ cup vegetable shortening

¾ cup salted butter, cubed

1 egg, lightly beaten

5 tablespoons cold water

1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

 

Ingredients for filling:

1 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons brown sugar

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup corn syrup

⅓ cup melted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract 

3 eggs, beaten

1 cup pecans, chopped

 

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 
  2. Crafting an impeccable crust is the first step to the perfect pecan pie. Mix flour, and salt in a bowl. Work vegetable shortening and butter into the flour using a dough cutter.
  3. Add the egg, water and vinegar; stir until combined. Put dough aside and chill until needed. Dough for the pie crust is complete!
  4. Next, you will need to make the filling. Mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, corn syrup, butter, vanilla extract and eggs together. 
  5. Roll dough out on a flour covered surface. Then fit dough onto a pie pan. Place half of the pecans on the bottom of the pie crust, then pour mixture over pecans. Top with the other half of the pecans. Cover gently with foil and bake for 30 minutes covered, 20 minutes uncovered. 
  6. Enjoy!
