2000s award shows always find a way to leave us laughing.

Taylor Swift won Best Female Video at the 2009 VMAS. Rapper Kanye West walked onstage before she could speak.
“Imma let you finish,” West said. “But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”
Beyoncé smiled back at him. A day later, during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, West said it was rude of him to make that comment and that he wanted to apologize to Swift in person. Swift later revealed that West called her to apologize.

Chrissy Teigen’s cringing face– 2015 Golden Globes and 2016 Oscars

When singer John Legend won an award for his song “Glory,” his wife, Chrissy Teigen’s, cringing face went viral. She was caught making the same face at the 2016 Oscars when actress Stacey Dash appeared as part of the show’s Minority Outreach Program. Dash has previously made statements against Black History Month.

Will Smith slaps Chris Rock – 2022 Oscars

During the 2022 Oscars, host and comedian Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hair loss due to her alopecia.
“Jada, I love you, GI Jane Two, can’t wait to see it, alright? That was a nice one!” Rock said, referencing a movie character with a shaved head. Pinkett-Smith glared at Rock while Smith laughed. Noticing his wife’s reaction, Smith walked onstage and slapped Rock, who laughed it off.
“I’m being called on in my life to love people, and to protect people, and to be a river to my people.” Smith said when he won his award for Best Actor.

Lady Gaga wears her famous meat dress – 2010 VMAs

In 2010, Lady Gaga wore a dress made entirely of meat to the VMAs. The dress alluded to a speech she made that same year during a Portland rally against the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. This policy prohibited US soldiers from revealing their sexual orientation.
“Justice is the prime rib of America.” Gaga, who is bisexual, said in her speech. “But because I’m gay, I don’t get to enjoy the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer.”
Recently, in an interview with British Vogue, Gaga said “If you are willing to die for your country, what does it matter how you identify?”
