Staycation in the LOU

February 22, 2023

Spring break is the time of year where kids get the chance to go somewhere warm and enjoy the burning sun while walking on the sand somewhere in Florida. Instead, you’re home in your room, bundled up in blankets. If you’re stuck in STL scrolling through Instagram, here are seven things you can do to create an itinerary of your own during your time off school.

Lemp Haunted Neighborhood Walking Tour

If you’re someone who is into horror stories and loves everything Halloween, this is a tour you don’t want to miss. Dr. Mark Farley, paranormal investigator, shares the history of the Lemp Mansion and Brewery. The tour includes the forgotten story of the Lemp neighborhood where you’ll visit two basements within the mansion and learn about the horrific events that took place.

Adventure Valley Paintball Park

If you need to get out of the house and let out some energy, this is the right place for you. The park holds eight different paintball fields and two ziplines that stretch across 1.5 miles. It’s the perfect way to spend time with friends and stay off your phone. This activity requires tough skin and a competitive side if you want to stay in the game for more than two minutes each round.

Escape The Room

Everyone has to experience an escape room at least once. The STL location has rooms with their own setting, secrets, storyline and escape routes. If you’re someone who likes a challenge, you’ll enjoy the adrenaline pumping experience of having only 60 minutes to escape. STL is known for having a low success rate amongst those who attempt the escape room. Maybe you’ll be the one to change those odds.

The Foundry

If you’re looking for different cuisines to try and activities to do, then this is your go-to. The warehouse includes 17 kitchens, 10 local shops and Puttshack (tech-infused mini golf game). On top of all that, they provide live music events throughout each month. This is an atmosphere that you’ll never want to leave.

The Armory

This place holds 250,000 square feet of pure enjoyment for all guests. It is the home to the St. Louis Tennis Club, national bowling tournaments, rock concerts, indoor sports leagues and more. It’s the perfect place to go with friends to eat great food, discover different bands and drink (non-alcoholic beverages, of course).

Union Station

Similarly to The Foundry, Union Station holds several different attractions for guests. The most popular include: The St. Louis Wheel, Mini Golf and their Aquarium. They also have kid-friendly events such as face painting and the Carousel. You can enjoy an event or two and then stop by one of their highly-rated restaurants, such as Landry’s Seafood House. But don’t get to save room for dessert with their Cookies and Cupcakes store or The Soda Factory to test your taste buds.

Slick City Action Park

The grand opening of the indoor slides park is located in Chesterfield. It contains a four-person race slide, long jump slide, launch slide and so much more. All slides are designed for children five and older and are the perfect place to throw a birthday party or have fun with friends. Currently, they have nine different slides available, with more coming soon. They also have three air courts where you can play basketball, and a freestyle air court coming soon to try out parkour tricks.
