Bring back the original Disney shows

Long gone are the days of the original Disney Channel when Eric Matthews was constantly tormenting Mr. Feeny from across the back fence on Boy Meets World and Louis Stevens was getting into trou- ble for bothering Ren Stevens on Even Ste- vens. Sure, Boy Meets World is on at seven in the morning, but who watches tv at that hour?

So I ask you Disney Channel, what hap- pened? Those shows were

classics. Just because the character’s contracts expired or they wanted to pursue different acting roles does not mean you have to take the shows we grew to adore away from us. I vote to bring them back.

Now, I do not mean go and get all the actors back to make more episodes. I simply mean put the originals back on Disney Channel, maybe even create a new Dis- ney Channel station just for the classics, such as Boy Meets World or Even Stevens.

Same thing goes for those Disney Channel Original Mov- ies. I liked watching Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century and Brink! when I was younger, so what makes you think I would not enjoy them now?

The old Disney Channel Original Movies bring back memories of my little sister and me curled up on the couch ecstatic because a new movie came out. My friends and I used to love hanging out on a Saturday night watching the latest Disney Channel Original Movie.

The first Disney Channel Original Movies were usually the best, however. Disney gets too sequel-happy when that first movie does well. Halloweentown is one of those movies, and do not even get me started on High School Musical.

Halloweentown first aired in 1998 with the lead as Marnie Cromwell, a young witch played by Kimberly J. Brown, learning her family has a powerful secret. Then came Hal- loweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge and Halloweentown High, both with Brown as the lead character. All three were not too bad until the fourth: Return to Halloweentown when Disney changed the lead character. A definite no-no. It is like Scrubs, with out JD. It just does not work.

So Disney Channel, bring back all the 90s movies we know and love, and cut back on all those cheesy Hannah Montana and Wiz- ards of Waverly Place movies.
