It is with deep sorrow that we announce the retirement of Mia Intagliata, esteemed writer, artist, editor, friend, family member, staffer, photographer, poet, public speaker, problem resolver, best friend and retail worker, who will be leaving the TKC family upon her graduation date.
It said that throughout her lifetime on staff, Mia was a beacon of life to all who knew her and honestly, anyone who had the blessing of passing her even on a surface level. All those on staff were impacted in the highest, purest form by Mia, and have all said that her leaving will have an hauntingly painful effect on their lives.
“Probably the best editor-in-chief I have ever known,” Sophia Webb, senior, said with tears in her eyes as she spoke, pure anguish tainting her words. “Without her I probably would’ve quit.”
Similar to Webb, TKC staffers vowed to never forget the fun and laughter that Mia brought to staff. Madeline Krewet, senior, and Nicholas Copeland, senior, best friends, said that they still don’t quite believe her retirement. Cora Donaldson, junior, agrees that Call will forever be different.
“To the untrained eye, Mia was simply there, but to those who knew her, she was better than Gandhi,” Cora Donaldson said. “She taught us to laugh, she taught us to cry… most of all she taught us to love.”
It is said in the great legend that, “Mia herself is not excited to pass, but she knows that it must be done.” The one true message she wishes to leave her friends with is “Love recognizes no barriers” a quote she came up with and will forever live by.
In the upcoming years at TKC, Mia’s soul will be severely missed, many have said that they aren’t even sure how they’ll continue. Some advisors are retiring, and some staffers are quitting. But, just know that Mia’s spirit will live on in the hearts of whom she has touched.©
