The KHS Mock Trial team will compete in the preliminary round of the MO Mock Trial state competition April 5-6. The trials will be held in the Carnahan City Courthouse in St. Louis beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. If the team advances to the next round of the state competition, further trials will be held in the Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse, also located in downtown St. Louis. The additional trials will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, April 7, and the State Championship will start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

The KHS Mock Trial team advanced to state after placing second in the St. Louis Regional Mock Trial competition March 14. The team is led by retired teacher, Peter Stragand, and is composed of 12 students acting as either witnesses or attorneys in the trial. The KHS Mock Trial team went to state in 2011, but has never won a state title.
