The Kirkwood Water Department is offering a $1,000 scholarship to 28 students at Kirkwood High School and Vianney High School. To earn the scholarship, contestants have to propose a design for a fire hydrant. Now students are working to bring their design to life by painting it onto a hydrant provided by the city. Four selected designs by Kirkwood students are currently being painted onto the hydrants and will be entered into the contest. The winner will be announced April 17 and all four of the Kirkwood hydrants will be on display at the Kirkwood Farmers’ Market in May.
