I hope [the Opportunity Scholarships] will inspire students to know that there is an opportunity for scholarships for them, too.”

— Abby Peterson

The College Board recently announced that it is going to offer $5 million in scholarships each year, starting in 2020. The College Board Opportunity Scholarships are for dedicated students who work hard but may not receive the highest test scores or have the highest GPA.There is no application or GPA required to enter, so all students have the chance to earn a scholarship. According to the College Board, there are six steps that students are required to complete to be eligible for a $40,000 scholarship. Students could receive a scholarship for each step they complete and scholarships are awarded through monthly drawings. Abby Peterson, college counselor, thinks these new Opportunity Scholarships are great and she hopes they will motivate students to work harder and complete all the steps to earn money for college. Below are the steps students have to complete to be eligible for a scholarship.
