KHS and WGHS will hold separate Friendship Dances this year to mitigate risk of COVID-19.

KHS and Webster Groves High School (WGHS) will hold separate Friendship Dances this year, according to a joint KSD and WGSD statement released Sept. 14. Due to concerns of COVID-19, KHS will hold its Friendship Dance as scheduled Nov. 6, and WGHS will host the event for their students on a different day.

“Kirkwood and Webster Groves school districts remain committed to keeping our students as safe as possible so they can continue learning in-person in the classroom,” the statement said. “With this in mind, Kirkwood High School and Webster Groves High School have jointly decided to hold separate Friendship Dances this year.”

The statement said holding separate dances “will ensure space for social distancing and the ability to follow other health and safety mitigation practices.”

KHS Principal Dr. Mike Havener confirmed there will still be 1,000 student tickets and 100 guest tickets available for each dance. The dance will be held on the originally scheduled date, Nov. 6, 7-10 p.m. in Holley Assembly Hall on KHS campus. Masks will be required.
