On May 7th, Missouri voted to become the 9th state to allow girls wrestling.

“I think it is awesome,” Craig Dickinson, KHS wrestling coach said. “It is going to grow the sport and it is good for girls, it is good for wrestling and it is good for everybody.”

For the first couple of years, to get the sport going, some female teams will play males. If you are interested in joining the team, there is a wrestling summer camp on June 12th through the 14th to try the sport out.

“It is a tough sport, but when you tell girls ‘you have to compete against boys,’ most are not going to be interested,” Dickinson said. “Now that you open it up to competing against other girls, I do not know. We will see.”
