VISTA will be relocated at KHS along with the Atlas program during the 2019-2020 school year.

Last week, Dr. Michael Havener, KHS principal, sent out an email to KHS staff regarding new changes coming to KHS next school year. Within this email, Havener announced the revamp throughout the Board of Education across the district. VISTA, an alternative learning program for students in the KSD, will be relocating to the KHS campus as of the 2019-2020 school year. The VISTA students will move into the ATLAS building, while the ATLAS students will be relocated to the library after reconstruction is done during the summer before the school year begins. In addition to this relocation, Romona Miller, senior class principal, will switch roles and become the KHS Assistant Principal for Alternative Education. The new principal for the incoming class of 2023 is yet to be determined.

“Even though VISTA does some really great things, students are often totally detached from the high school once they go to VISTA because of the proximity. This will allow the students who are able to come to take advantage of the opportunities here at the high school.” -Romona Miller
