As we all know, the world loves to talk about Taylor Swift’s many boyfriends. Even though she’s a 33-year old woman who is just exploring her options, people always have something to say about her relationships. Many celebrity men also date around, looking for “the one” and no one talks. Now, Taylor Swift is dating Chiefs’ Tight End Travis Kelce, and as per usual, people have an opinion, including me. Dominating headlines, the couple’s debut hasn’t been a quiet one. Taylor Swift has been topping charts and breaking records for over a decade, while Travis Kelce is considered to be one of the best tight ends of all time, making them a powerful pair .
So, the real question, are they the hottest couple of the year? For a little background info, July 8 marked the first public linking between the two. Kelce showed up at Taylor Swifts’ The Eras Tour at his home football field, the Arrowhead stadium. Kelce had talked about his plan on his podcast, New Heights, which he does with his brother. Kelce had been secretive about the rumors for a while, and wouldn’t answer the reporter’s questions. Then, on Sept. 21, Kelce threw the ball into Swift’s field, inviting her to come and watch one of his games. This guy never misses. It worked out for him, as Taylor Swift showed up at his game, and then many more after. The two have been seen many times in public together now, holding hands and giving cheek kisses.
Kirkwood students seem to think so. Kirkwood is home to many Swifties, who avidly follow along with Swift’s life, and form their own opinions about who Swift is recently dating. One of these students is Evie Bradley, a sophomore, who has been a big fan since she was little.
“I think they are cute,” Bradley said. “[But] I don’t know about marriage,
“I think they haven’t been dating long enough to tell.”

Anna Ullery, another sophomore swiftie, has similar views to Bradley’s.
“I think they’re cute but I feel like people kind of obsess over them too much.” Ullery said. “But it’s not like a huge deal that they’re together and I feel like people over play it.”
Swifties seem to have latched onto the idea of Swift and Kelce quickly. Her devoted fan base, myself included, just wants her to be happy, and find someone she truly loves. More KHS Swifties seem to think that although new, their relationship is built to last. Octavia Durnin, a freshman, is one of them.
“I totally see it being long term because she supports him.”
Durnin said. “I think they’re in each other’s league.”
Swifties have jumped to support Swift, but there is some online debate going on if they are in each other’s league, and I’m sure you’ve heard people debating whether or not Swift put Kelce on the map. Kirkwood Swifties have a good view on this.
“I think yes and no because they were both super well known and famous before they were together.” Ullery said. “Taylor dating him made him even more known,
he was well known but mostly to just football fans, but now everyone knows his name because he’s dating Taylor Swift.”
So there you have it, the ever amazing Taylor swift and her hot-shot football boyfriend receive the KHS stamp of approval, at least from the Swifties of the school. At the end of the day, Swift and Kelce are just regular people who deserve to be happy and find peace in each other in their crazy worlds. I think they both deserve to be happy, and they both have dedicated fan bases who are now exposed to something new. Swifties are becoming Chiefs fans, and Chiefs fans are slowly coming around to Taylor Swift. Durnin puts this into the words of a student, when asked if Swift put Kelce on the map.
“ I think they’re in each other’s league because they’re both famous.” Durnin said. “And also I think he was famous before she met him, but no one noticed because it was all football guys who knew him, not Swifties.”
