Photo gallery: girls’ and boys’ cross country meet Oct. 20
Kirkwood cross country hosted the Class 4 District 2 Meet at Francis Park, Oct. 20. Christian Baker, running a 15:22 PR won the varsity boys’ race. The boys had six out of their seven runners in the top 30 and came out as District Champions. The girls’ team finished the meet in 5th place, just 18 points behind Nerinx, with Meredith Lang, senior, Sarah Hickenbotham, sophomore, and Grace Murphy, junior, placing in the top 30 and moving on to Sectionals. The Sectionals meet will be at Big Driver in Washington, Oct. 27. “I had hoped that we would be fourth place and we were fifth so that was disappointing, but I think everyone gave everything they had,” Meredith Lang, senior, said. “I was sad we didn’t go on as a team, but I was happy that Sarah and Grace made it along with me.”
