Photo Gallery: Greentree Festival

The Greentree festival made a comeback this year after being suspended due to COVID-19 in 2020. The annual event is held in Kirkwood park every year in September from Friday to Sunday. The festival holds live music, games, best of all: food. Lawrence Michael, a participant in the folk section of Greentree, educates visitors about his unique hobby: tanning deer hides.

“I picked it up in Vietnam, and since then I’ve been doing it 50 years,” Michael said. “The indigenous tribes of Vietnam would bring back the deer hides and turn them into leather. I picked it up as a hobby and now I practice it with the Lakota tribes.”
