Police Beat: 4/15-4/21

On Monday, 04-15-2013, at 12:40 p.m. police received a report of theft from a
vehicle parked in the 10200 block of Manchester Road. The victim’s truck was
broken into causing damage to the passenger door and the car stereo was stolen.

On Monday, 04-15-2013 at 4:24 p.m. police responded to the 1300 block of
South Kirkwood Road for a report of destruction of property to a vehicle. The
vehicle’s driver’s door handle was damaged.

On Tuesday, 04-16-2013 at 2:49 p.m. police responded to the 1300 block of
South Kirkwood Road for a report of a larceny from a vehicle and destruction of
property. A rear cab window of a truck was pried open and the vehicle’s stereo,
an amplifier, and subwoofer speakers were stolen.

On Tuesday, 04-16-2013 at 8:19 p.m. officers received a report of a larceny from
a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Doorack. Sometime during the previous night
the victim’s vehicle was entered by unknown persons and the glove box was
rifled through with a pair of sunglasses stolen.

On Thursday, 04-18-2013 at 5:48 p.m. officers responded to a report of a tree
fallen on a home in the 600 block of East Essex Avenue. Several large limbs
from the tree damaged the roof of the residence. No one was at home at the
time the tree fell.

On Thursday, 04-18-2013 at 7:11 p.m. a resident from the 900 block of South
Geyer reported property damage to and theft from a storage shed. A push
mower, weed eater, and cans of gasoline were stolen from the storage shed
sometime during the previous overnight hours. The thief damaged the door
frame and lock of the shed to gain entry.

On Thursday, 04-18-2013, at 11:06 p.m. officers stopped a motorist for a traffic
violation near the intersection of Big Bend and South Kirkwood Road. The adult
driver was arrested after a routine record check revealed outstanding warrants
through the Kirkwood Police Department as well as a neighboring police agency.
The driver was also found in possession of marijuana at the time of the arrest                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     and was charged with that offense.

From Monday, 04-15-2013, through Sunday, 04-21-2013, Kirkwood Police took
an additional sixteen reports of identity-theft related to the Schnucks grocery
chain credit and debit card security breach. All of the incidents involved the
victim’s credit card accounts being used in other states for purchases of various
amounts.

Kirkwood Police arrested six adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
businesses during the week of Monday, 04-15-2013, through Sunday, 04-
21-2013. The incidents occurred at two separate retail stores located in the
1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. One of the adults faces a felony charge
of stealing due to having at least two prior theft-related convictions. Another
adult also faces additional felony charges since she had narcotics and drug
paraphernalia in her possession at the time of her arrest.
