Police Beat: 8/18-8/24
On Tuesday, August 19, 2014, police responded to a theft report from the 12000
block of Big Bend. A three foot by three foot painting was stolen from the patio of
the residence.
On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, police responded to the 1100 block of Ruth
Avenue for a larceny. A power washer was stolen from a shed at the rear of the
residence.
On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, police recovered a bicycle from the 300 block
of Windgrove. The bicycle was brought to the police station awaiting the owner.
On Thursday morning, August 21, 2014, Kirkwood Police arrested two adults for
entering numerous vehicles and also committing a residential burglary during the
previous overnight hours. Three vehicles in the 600 block of Knierim, one vehicle
in the 600 block of West Adams, and one vehicle in the 400 block of George were
entered. A camera, handgun, Samsung tablet, and cash were stolen. All of the
vehicles were left unlocked. The two also entered an unsecured garage at a
home in the 400 block of Clemens and attempted to steal a bicycle and stereo
equipment but left the items sitting in the roadway. Police recovered the stolen
property including the stolen gun from the vehicles that were entered. Police still
have a large amount of CDs that have still been unreported and unclaimed by
the owner. The cases against the two will be presented to the St Louis County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
On Thursday, August 21, 2014, a resident from the 500 block of South Geyer
called police to report a stolen firearm. The resident left the firearm in a vehicle
which was broken into.
On Thursday, August 21, 2014, officers responded to the 400 block of West
Washington for a burglary report. The resident came home to find the rear door
of the residence forced open sometime during the day. Several pieces of jewelry
were stolen.
On Friday, August 22, 2014 police recovered a bicycle in the 1200 block of South
Kirkwood Road. The bicycle was brought to the police station awaiting the owner.
On Saturday, August 23, 2014, a resident from the 500 block of Bedford Oaks
called police to report a larceny. A lawn mower was stolen from a shed at the
rear of the residence.
Kirkwood Police arrested five adults for shoplifting merchandise from an area
business located in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road during the week of
Monday, 08-18-2014, through Sunday, 08-24-2014. One of the subjects was also
charged with possession of marijuana. All the cases were referred to municipal
court.
