Police Beat: 9/1-9/7
On Monday, September 1, 2014 police responded to the 100 block of South
Holmes in Oakland for a disturbance. The suspect responsible for the disturbance
had discharged the handgun inside the residence during an argument. The
suspect was arrested for assault and unlawful use of a weapon. There were no
injuries. The case was referred to St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
On Monday, September 1, 2014 officers received a report of destruction of
property to a vehicle in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road. The vehicle
owner discovered large scratch marks on the driver’s side of the vehicle after
shopping at a local retail business.
On Monday, September 1, 2014 police were called for a driver asleep at the
wheel in a drive-thru restaurant in the 300 block of South Kirkwood Road. The
vehicle also matched the description of a vehicle that had earlier left the scene
of an accident in Kirkwood. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated,
person under twenty-one years of age in possession of alcohol, and leaving the
scene of an accident. The cases are being referred to municipal court.
On Wednesday, September 3, 2014 police responded to a larceny from a vehicle
in the 400 block of E Jefferson. An iPod and approximately $20 in change was
stolen from the glove box of the victim’s vehicle.
On Friday, September 5, 2014 officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash in
the 600 block of Chelsea. The vehicle had crossed over a residential driveway
striking a retaining wall. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while
intoxicated. The case was referred to municipal court.
On Friday, September 5, 2014 police took an identity theft report from a victim in
the 700 block of South Ballas. The victim stated a personal loan had been taken
out in their name at a quick loan business that they did not authorize.
On Friday, September 5, 2014 police responded to a theft from a vehicle which
occurred in the 300 block of North Fillmore. A laptop was stolen from the vehicle.
On Friday, September 5, 2014 police were called to the 500 block of West Adams
for an indecent exposure. The victim witnessed a male subject expose himself to
her. The suspect was located and arrested for indecent exposure. The case was
referred to municipal court.
Kirkwood Police arrested one adult for shoplifting merchandise from an area
business located in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road during the week of
Monday, 09-01-2014, through Sunday, 09-7-2014. The case was referred to
municipal court.
Green Tree Parade Details
The Green Tree Parade will officially begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, 09-13-
2014, and is scheduled to conclude no later than noon. The parade route will
leave Kirkwood High School traveling east on Essex to Kirkwood Road, south on
Kirkwood Road to Argonne, then west on Argonne to conclude at the Kirkwood
Park Community Center, 111 South Geyer. The Kirkwood Police Department will
be closing the following streets promptly at 10:00 am. Residents and any visitors
are asked to move their vehicles from street parking no later than 8:00 a.m.
(Vehicles will be towed by 9:00 a.m.) The streets will reopen at the conclusion of
the parade.
No parking/ thru traffic- Kirkwood Road from Monroe Ave north to Jewel Ave
No parking/ thru traffic- West Essex from Kirkwood Road west to Chopin
No Parking/ thru traffic- West Argonne from Kirkwood Road west to Geyer
No Parking/ thru traffic- South Geyer from Monroe Ave north to Adams Ave
No thru traffic- North Geyer at Essex until parade clears intersection
Taylor Avenue will be the detour route and signs will be posted.
