Police Beat: 9/8-9/14
On Monday, September 8, 2014, police responded to the 300 block of Meacham
for a destruction of property report. The resident discovered damage to a
bedroom window that was possibly caused by a pellet gun.
On Tuesday, September 9, 2014, police received a report of identity theft from a
resident in the 500 block of North Taylor. The resident had a personal loan taken
out in his name that was unauthorized.
On Thursday, September 11, 2014, officers were dispatched to a larceny from
a vehicle in the 11300 block of Manchester. A box of meat packing material was
stolen from a vehicle parked at a business.
On Friday, September 12, 2014, police responded to a larceny from a vehicle in
the 600 block of South Kirkwood Road. The victim had a grass trimmer stolen
from an open trailer while doing work at a nearby residence.
On Friday, September 12, 2014, officer received two separate larceny reports
from individuals at businesses in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road. Each
victim had their wallet stolen from their purse while they were shopping.
On Friday, September 12, 2014, officers were dispatched to a larceny from a
vehicle parked in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The victim stated her
car keys were missing and noticed several items had been removed from her
vehicle.
On Friday, September 12, 2014, dispatch received a call of a vehicle that
was swerving on the roadway. Police stopped the vehicle in the area of South
Kirkwood Road and Woodbine. Investigation led to the arrest of the adult
driver for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The case was referred to
municipal court.
On Friday, September 12, 2014, police handled a destruction of property report.
A brick was thrown at the victim’s car window, causing the window to break.
On Saturday, September 13, 2014, a resident from the 300 block of Reith
Terrace called police to report a stolen vehicle. Sometime during the previous
overnight hours unknown persons stole the victim’s vehicle that had been parked
on the street.
On Saturday, September 13, 2014, a larceny from a vehicle was reported in the
1900 block of Grassy Ridge. Clothing and electronic items were stolen from an
unlocked vehicle.
Kirkwood Police arrested six adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
businesses located in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of South Kirkwood Road
during the week of Monday, 09-08-2014, through Sunday, 09-14-2014. Four
of the cases were referred to municipal court. The other two were arrested for
felony stealing and the cases were referred to the St Louis County Prosecuting
Attorney’s Office for review.
