Police Beat: 9/22-9/28
On Monday, September 22, 2014, officers were summoned to a residence in the
900 block of Bishops Gate for a larceny report. A handgun and Apple iPhone 5
had been removed and stolen from a bag that was in the apartment.
On Monday, September 22, 2014, police handled a theft report in the 1200 block
of South Kirkwood Road. The victim reported leaving an iPad at a business. The
victim contacted the manager who could not locate the iPad.
On Monday, September 22, 2014, an identity theft report was filed by a resident
in the 500 block of Art Lane. The resident had an unauthorized savings account
opened in his name using his personal information.
On Monday, September 22, 2014, police investigated a reported road rage
incident near the area of Big Bend and Marshall Road. The incident initially
began on I-270 and when both vehicles exited at Big Bend Road a driver of one
of the vehicles pointed a gun at the other driver. Police located and arrested one
adult. The gun used into the incident was recovered. The case was presented to
the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office where one charge of unlawful
use of a weapon-exhibiting a weapon was issued against Jaquan Strother, 20
years of age, of the 1200 block of Orleans in Kirkwood, He was transferred to
the St Louis County Jail and held on $7,500.00 bond.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, police responded to a residence in the 400
block of Crest for an identity theft report. The victim had an unauthorized
savings account opened in her name.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2014, officers were dispatched to the 200 block
of Altus Place for a destruction of property. The victim’s vehicle had all four tires
slashed.
On Thursday, September 25, 2014, police located a bicycle in the 500 block
of West Adams. The bicycle was brought to the Kirkwood Police Department
awaiting the owner.
On Friday, September 26, 2014, officers took a larceny report in the 200 block of
Wilson. A pair of sunglasses had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
On Friday, September 26, 2014, police located a bicycle in the 500 block of
Central Place. The bicycle was brought to the police station awaiting the owner.
On Friday, September 26, 2014, officers responded to the 400 block of Alice for a
theft report. A laptop was stolen from a vehicle sometime overnight.
On Sunday, September 28, 2014, a resident from the 600 block of Laven-Del
reported having a scooter stolen from his garage.
Kirkwood Police arrested two adults for shoplifting merchandise from two
businesses located in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of South Kirkwood Road during
the week of Monday, 09-22-2014, through Sunday, 09-28-2014. One of the
suspects was charged with felony stealing since the suspect had at least two
prior theft-related convictions. That case was forwarded to the St Louis County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. The other case was referred to municipal
court.
