Police Beat: 12/29-1/4
On Monday, 12-29-2014, police were summoned to a business located in the
10100 block of Manchester Road for a report of vehicle windows broken. An
employee reported two vehicles had windows broken out. Nothing was reported
stolen from the vehicles. A short time later, officers were dispatched to a
business in the 10300 block of Manchester for a similar report. Eight vehicles
had windows broken out. A backpack and loose change was reported stolen from
at least one of the vehicles.
On Monday, 12-29-2014, a resident from the 200 block of Midway reported a
residential burglary. The resident left the home and returned about an hour later
to find one flat screen TV and two Playstation game consoles stolen from the
home.
On Tuesday, 12-30-14, police responded to the 300 block of South Taylor for
a report of a pedestrian struck. Officers arrived and learned a southbound
vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway. The pedestrian received serious
injuries and the driver received minor injuries. Both were transported to an area
hospital for treatment.
On Friday, 1-2-2015, a resident from the 800 block of Sherilin contacted police
regarding destruction of property that occurred to his vehicle on 12-31-14. The
victim’s truck was dented with what was believed to be a BB from a BB gun.
On Friday, 1-2-2015, police responded to a business located in the 1200 block
of South Kirkwood for an abandoned auto. Officers arrived and learned the
vehicle was reported stolen out of the State of Washington. The Burlington Police
Department in Washington was notified of the recovery. The auto was towed to
impound.
On Saturday, 1-3-2015, police were summoned to the 600 block of Brownell for
destruction of property. The resident’s Christmas decorations and decorative
picket fence had been damaged sometime overnight.
Kirkwood Police arrested six adults for shoplifting merchandise from Kirkwood
area businesses during the week of Monday, 12-22-14, through Sunday, 12-28-
14. The incidents occurred at retail stores located in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of
South Kirkwood Road. All the cases were referred to municipal court.
