St. Louis Blues season preview

In five days the NHL season officially commences once again. The St. Louis Blues are kicking off their season against their inner-division rival the Nashville Predators on October 3rd. For the past few seasons, the Blues have been considered by many to have high chances winning the Stanley Cup. None of those predictions have come true, yet.

The Blues made a few major moves in the offseason, including sending former first round pick David Perron to the Edmonton Oilers in return for 10th overall pick Magnus Paajarvi. More recently, the Blues signed Brenden Morrow to a one year contract. Adding a veteran player like Morrow is a vital piece to the Blues’ success this season.

With Jay Bouwmeester returning for his first full season as a Blue and Alex Pietrangelo’s new 7-year contract, the Blues have one of the best defenses in the league. Kevin Shattenkirk had 23 points last season and should continue to improve on that total. Captain David Backes and budding all-star Vladimir Tarasenko seek to help improve in the goal scoring category for the upcoming season.

Place your bets and buy your tickets now, because the Blues are poised for another spectacular season.
