KHS shortstop Sadie Wise announced her commitment to playing softball at St. Louis University Saturday, Aug. 15. Wise, junior, hit .486 with 2 home runs and tied for first on her team with 25 RBIs last season. She also had four stolen bases and no errors in 2014. Wise has started at shortstop since her freshman year.

“I consider myself really lucky to have Sadie in our program,” Amy Leatherberry, head varsity softball coach, said. “She has the personality and integrity that matches the level of talent, which is very rare.”

Wise started playing softball at 5 years old. She plays select softball for St. Louis Chaos and travels across the country playing at a competitive level. Wise considers herself family-oriented and because of SLU’s proximity to Kirkwood, she decided to “be a Billiken.”

“I‘m excited to play for SLU because I know I will continue to play the game I love at a higher level,” Wise said. “I’m also excited that my family will get to see me play since SLU is so close to home.”
