As Winter sports practiced for the first time today, hockey fell 5-2 to De Smet on the pond at Queeny Ice Rink in their first game of the regular season. In a rematch of a 3-3 tie in the Top Hat Tournament, the Spartans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but Mitchell Drexler, junior, tied it up going into the second period. De Smet then scored three unanswered, including one on the power play. JP Postal, junior, made it 4-2, cleaning it up for his third goal of the campaign. The Spartans added one more goal in the third period, icing the victory.
