This week in sports: 11/30-12/7/14

12/1: The hockey Pioneers fell 3-1 to CBC. Luke McNab, senior, netted KHS’ sole goal.

12/2: Freshman boys’ hoops advanced in the Webster tournament against the host team, with a 51-26 W.

 

12/3: Freshman girls’ basketball advanced to the consolation finals in the Lindbergh tournament after a 28-22 victory over Summit.

 

12/4: Frosh boys basketball defeated SLUH 57-56 in overtime to move on to the finals. Varsity wrestling ousted Desmet 54-20, JV dominated 54-16, and freshman girls’ basketball took third in the Lindbergh tourney with a win over University City.

 

12/5: Wrestling won their second straight, be it closer than the first, taking down Rock Bridge 36-30, then fell to SLUH 39-33. Robert Columbus, senior running back, and Jerod Alton, junior running back, were named 1st team all-conference, while Luke Lowry, junior defensive lineman, was named 1st team defense. Seniors Wil Hadler (QB) and Alex Geary (wide receiver), along with Miles Beattie, sophomore offensive lineman, were named to 2nd team offense, and junior defensive backs JC Chery and Jamahl Scott made 2nd team defense.

 

12/6: The host freshman wrestling team tore up the first three rounds, winning against Edwardsville (54-24), Lindbergh (48-24) and Northwest (48-24). For v-squad wrestling, Donovan Cook, senior, took first and Brian Mackenzie placed first in the Parkway South tournament.

In a day packed with hoops, the freshman boys’ began the day by taking home the hardware, winning the Webster tournament.B4M1vV7CAAAXswa.jpg-large

JV girls and boys both earned W’s; the prior beat Rock Bridge 40-33, the former over Hickman 50-34. Varsity girls and boys both fell, however; girls 59-39 to Rock Bridge, boys 71-47 to Hickman. At the friendly confines, Hockey destroyed Lindbergh (for the second time this year) 7-0. Goal scorers were McNab, two from Landon Fuller (freshman), two from Cole Mudra (senior), Adam Tackes (junior) and Sarge Siegel (junior).
