Head boys’ and girls’ tennis coach and walking counselor Nick Jannett announced he will resign from his position as coach  Jan. 6. Girls’ varsity tennis went 9-5 under Jannett, winning their District and Conference. Bridget Mayfield, senior, finished seventh in the state tournament.  The boys’ team also had a successful run under Jannett’s coaching, finishing 11-5-1 in the 2014-15 season.

“This is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had,” Jannett said. “I love my job. I love being a walking counselor and I love coaching boys’ and girls’ tennis.”

Although Jannett said he loves his job at KHS, he has searched for a teaching job for the last four years. He said he could not pass up this job opportunity at this point in his life. The head coaching position is open on KSD’s website. Jannett’s final day at KHS is Friday, Jan. 15, but he said he plans to come to tennis matches and other Kirkwood events.

“I’ve built a lot of relationships here that I really care about,” Jannett said. “It was one of the hardest decisions of my life to leave.”
