Danger or Drill?

Danger or Drill?

Drills. Everyone has them, and no one likes them. From the uncomfortable squatting to standing out in the cold, drills are a necessary evil

Fire Drill:

In my opinion, these are one of the easiest drills to handle. Granted, you may be standing outside for a bit in the cold, but at least you aren’t cramped under a table too short for you. To avoid confusion and pain in this type of drill, follow what your teacher says and if it is cold out that day, bring a coat. The school is generally told ahead of time about the drills. If it’s 15° and someone didn’t bring a coat, that’s their problem.

Earthquake Drill:

One of the more uncomfortable ones depending on the type of desk in the classroom. If you have a table for a desk, it usually is not too bad as you have lots of room. If you have the desk + chair things, have fun, because those are uncomfortable to begin with. And if you have the plastic desk and chair, it shouldn’t be too bad. Just make sure to have all limbs and heads clear of the bars on the side. Oh, and maybe the gum underneath too. It would not be fun to get your hair stuck in that mess.

Tornado Drill:

In my opinion, the most uncomfortable of them all. Forced to sit in lines along the hallway and clutch your knees while tucking your head down, there’s no way to get comfortable there. My advice is to roll your head around your shoulders if it is too cramped. Other than that, all you can do is wait for it to be over.

Intruder Drill:

The most timely of all drills. This is probably the easiest of all to handle. All it requires is sitting in silence (that is the hard part) in the corner of the classroom. If it’s just a drill, you can chat quietly (depending on the teacher) and mess around on your phone.

Drills are not too bad unless you treat them as such. Follow the tips above and you’ll make it out without too much discomfort.
