“There’s this whole stigma around the SOAR program where kids think that it’s only for really smart people, and if you’re not in the SOAR program you’re missing out or something’s wrong with you. [Growing up] people used to think SOAR was this secret club and I couldn’t tell them about it and I was so cool for being in it. Kids shouldn’t feel like they’re missing out on something. It’s really an environment and it suits different people. I think there’s just a whole other perspective [about the program] that is misleading and makes people jealous when they shouldn’t be.”
