In the above video, The Kirkwood Call gives a behind-the-scenes look through a GoPro camera and a recap from the girls’ state swimming final at St. Peters Rec Plex on Feb. 21. The video features Kirkwood state swimmers Audrey Kelly and Erin Kelly, sophomores, Maggie Cox, senior, and Maddie Pearl, freshman, who all placed 7th in their 200 and 400 freestyle relay. Cox also got 8th place in the 200 individual medley. The team, including girls who didn’t make it to the finals, are featured cheering and shouting for their teammates to get to the end of the lane. Not seen in the video is Margaret Fries, senior, who placed 12th in the 500 freestyle. KHS placed 6th overall and racked up numerous spots on the podium. Kelly describes the atmosphere as, “very hyped and intense, but fun at the same time. It’s definitely one of my favorite meets of the year.”
