Police Beat: 12/30-1/5

On Wednesday, 01-01-2014, at 5:01 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle

accident near the intersection of Couch and Duley. A witness reported a vehicle

struck a utility pole and left the area. Officers located the vehicle and adult

driver near the 500 block of Couch. The driver was arrested for driving while

intoxicated after investigation of the accident was complete.

On Friday, 01-03-2014, detectives arrested an adult employee in connection with

a theft investigation at a retail store located in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood

Road. The employee was found to have stolen several thousand dollars from the

business over the previous six months. The case will be referred to the St Louis

County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

On Friday, 01-03-2014, at 2:33 p.m. officers were summoned to a business

that specializes in resale sports equipment for a report of subjects attempting

to sell used sports equipment that was reported stolen. Employees recognized

the equipment as items that were reported stolen in a residential burglary in

Creve Coeur. Three adults were arrested for possession of stolen property. The

equipment was seized and later returned to the owner in Creve Coeur. The

charges against the three adults were referred to the St Louis County Prosecuting

Attorney’s Office for review.

On Saturday, 01-04-2014, at 2:28 p.m. police were dispatched to a retail

business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of shoplifting.

Employees observed two adults inside the store acting suspiciously. One of the

adults was arrested for stealing. The same adult was found to be in possession

of drug paraphernalia at the time of the arrest and was cited for that as well.

On Sunday, 01-05-2014, at 2:01 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance at a

residence in the 1100 block of North Clay. While investigating the disturbance

between two adults officers located what was believed to be marijuana and

related drug paraphernalia inside the residence. Further checks revealed a

possible marijuana growing operation inside the residence. One of the adults

was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance. The case will be

forwarded to the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
