It was a normal Tuesday at lunch, except for one thing–Mandy Obermeier’s students pushed their popcorn on unsuspecting students during the Top Chef final challenge.
“The students have been working to learn about different herbs and spices,” Obermeier said.
Rachel Pope, senior, was selling Picante spicy popcorn and was excited her class picked her as having the best popcorn.
“It’s fun to sample what you’ve made,” Pope said.
Also on Pope’s team were seniors Marline Abounader, Ashley Holahan and Caleb Hirsch.
Their competition was Rasha Alexander and Austin Allen, sophomores, Sharday Hall, senior and Brandi Jackson, freshman, who made Sweety Pie popcorn.
Garret Tanner and Nick McGinley, juniors, and Drew McClure, senior, were making The Spicy, Sweet Surprise.
Pope had confidence in her team’s popcorn.
“A lot of people said it was delicious and it goes well with lunch,” Pope said.
Despite Pope’s confidence, the Sweety Pie team won the competition with 80 votes.
