Help from our peers: Anna Hermann

The Kirkwood Call: Why do you think people have friends?
Anna Hermann: I think we want friends because we want other people to talk to and experience things with. I always find I can think through situations better when I have someone to talk to who understands me and can give me insight I don’t necessarily have.

TKC: Do you think it is a good idea for guys and girls to be friends at this age?
AH: Yes. In the future, we are all going to have to coexist with each other, and the situation we are in in high school with all these different types of people will help us prepare for the future.

TKC: Why do you want to have friends?
AH: If [I] need advice and help they have my best intentions at heart. Also, you need someone to smack you and be like, “Dude, you’re being an idiot”. Even if you don’t want to hear it, they do know what’s best for you.

TKC: Do you think it is better to be in a relationship or single?
AH: I think it depends on the person and stage of life you’re in and where you are with yourself. I think it’s really important in a relationship to have that person complement you and rather than fill any void you may have. You should never change yourself.
