Returning from the snow day Jan. 12, students and teachers had to deal with slippery hallways at almost all of the entrances. Entering any building on campus from outside led to various slips and falls including that of Karen Ambuehl, English teacher.
“I took four steps and fell straight on my left knee,” Ambuehl said.
Ambuehl fell while entering the northeast building coming in from the Dougherty Ferry parking lot.
“I have a broken patella,” Ambuehl said. “My kneecap is broken in two places.”
Ambuehl’s surgery is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 17. She is unsure of when she will be able to return, but expected to find out the day of her surgery.
Dr. David Holley, principal, said the janitorial staff did what they could to prevent injury in the hallways. Signs with warnings of slippery hallways were placed at all of the hallways and the janitors attempted to dry as many of the entrances as possible.
