KHS hosts SSM blood drive

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, a non-profit organization, hosted a blood drive in the Denver Miller Gym during school hours Jan. 26. Kirkwood Youth Service helped advertise, register students and help during the event. The goal for the blood drive was to collect 90 units. Fortunately, for the Sisters of Saint Mary’s Health Care center, over 100 productive units of blood were donated. Blood drives are hosted at schools, churches, businesses or any place where at least 10 units of blood can be donated.

“It all comes down to a unit of blood for saving somebody’s life,” Terry Deters, donor resource consultant, said.
