Teen drug and alcohol use: what’s going on and what you can do about it

There is a teen drug and alcohol presentation in the Keating theatre 6 p.m to 7:30 p.m on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Students are encouraged to attend the event with their families, and the presentation is sponsored in part by PPO with the help of Ceci Bodet, education support counselor. This event is presented by Robert Riley II, MAADC II, and Ned Presnall, MSW, LCSW of Clayton Behavioral. There will be an interactive group activity following the presentation. According to Mike Wade, the school wants to provide another opportunity for students and parents to get awareness with issues surrounding drug and alcohol abuse, specifically heroin.

“These issues cross all race boundaries,” Wade said. “I think these issues cross also socio-economical values, so if you think it won’t happen to you, you’re crazy. We have to constantly put it in front of everybody. This is an opportunity to get it in front of people that may have not heard the message. It’s a really important message. We need to bring it back into our building during the school day.”
