Police Beat: 1/21-1/27

On Tuesday, 01-22-2013, at 10:34 a.m. officers responded to a school in
the 1300 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of a burglary. A teacher
discovered a class room broken into and a flat screen TV stolen. Entry was
gained sometime during the previous weekend through an unlocked window.

On Tuesday, 01-22-2013, at 11:14 a.m. police received a call for a suspicious
person in the 300 block of Alsobrook. Officers arrived and located an adult
sleeping in a vehicle. Officers also observed drug paraphernalia lying on the
seat next to the adult. The adult, who was not from the area, was awoken and
arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, 01-24-2013, at 7:50 p.m. a resident from the 300 block of Attucks
called police to report someone had just broken into the home but left when
confronted by the homeowner. Two white male suspects left the area prior to
police arrival in a dark-colored vehicle. Detectives are investigating.

On Saturday, 01-26-2013, at 1:07 p.m. a resident from the 2300 block of
Maybrook notified police of credit card fraud. The resident received a call
from her credit union about suspicious activity on her account. The resident
checked her account and found nine fraudulent purchases over the internet. The
purchases totaled over $1,000.00 and occurred during the month of January
2013.

On Sunday, 01-27-2013, at 12:53 a.m. police stopped a motorist for a traffic
violation near the intersection of North Kirkwood Road and Wilson. The adult
driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

During the week of Monday, 01-21-2013, through Sunday, 01-27-2013,
Kirkwood Police arrested four adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
businesses. The offenses occurred at two different retail stores located in the
1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. All four cases were referred to municipal
court.
