Police Beat 9/30-10/6

During the week of Sept. 30th through Oct. 6th, along with regular calls for service and traffic enforcement, the Kirkwood Police Department responded to 9 residential / business alarms, 18 motor vehicle accidents and assisted the Fire / EMS Department on 57 calls.

During the week of Sept. 30th through Oct. 6th, along with regular calls for service and traffic enforcement, the Kirkwood Police Department responded to 9 residential / business alarms, 18 motor vehicle accidents and assisted the Fire / EMS Department on 57 calls. 

On Monday, Sept. 30th, 2019, a business in the 300 block of Leffingwell reported a weekend burglary. The business reported the theft of materials and cash.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, at approximately 4:00 PM, an officer responded to the area of Ballas and Boaz for reported suspicious activity. Upon arrival, the officer located and detained several juveniles spray painting graffiti underneath the railroad bridge. One juvenile claimed ownership for the recent graffiti. The juvenile was transported to his residence and released to his/her parents. The case will be forwarded to the St. Louis Family Court for consideration.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, at 4:30 PM, a patron of the YMCA reported the theft of his car keys, cell phone and subsequently his white in color, 2015 Ford Explorer. The victim stated he left his car keys and cell phone unsecured under a towel while he used the restroom. When he returned, his keys and cell phone were missing. The victim then discovered his vehicle had been stolen. The reporting officer is investigating. The vehicle has since been entered into a law enforcement database as stolen.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, at approximately 6:30 PM, officers were dispatched to Green Tree Park for a reported unconscious individual slumped at the wheel. Upon arrival, Kirkwood Fire Department was attempting to remove the subject from the vehicle. The subject was suffering from an apparent drug overdose. Kirkwood paramedics administered a dose of Narcan and revived the subject. He was transported to the hospital for additional care.

On Saturday, Oct. 5th, at approximately 12:25 PM, the manager of a department store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road reported an individual was causing numerous amounts of property damage by graffiti, with a yellow permanent marker, around the store and property. The subject was located, arrested and charged with property damage.

During the week of Sept. 30th through Oct. 6th, one (1) shoplifting case was reported and investigated from a business in the 1000-1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
