Police Beat: 1/28-2/3

On Monday, 01-28-2013, at 7:02 p.m. a resident from the 300 block of East
Bodley reported the theft of cash and jewelry from the residence. The thefts
occurred sometime during the month of January.

On Tuesday, 01-29-2013, at 3:27 p.m. police received a report of a robbery that
just occurred in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The reporting party
claimed to have her wallet stolen from her by an unknown male. While officers
were investigating the reported robbery employees of a retail store in the 1200
block of South Kirkwood Road reported the theft of merchandise by an adult
female. It was discovered the robbery victim and the suspect in the theft were
the same person. The suspect dropped her wallet as she fled from employees of
the business. She was arrested for stealing and filing a false police report.

On Wednesday, 01-30-2013, at 6:25 a.m. officers responded to the 400 block
of New York for a report of property damage. The victim reported having her
windshield broken out sometime during the overnight hours.

On Thursday, 01-31-2013, at 12:22 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 500
block of Andrews for a suspicious vehicle. The reporting party claimed a subject
was sitting in a vehicle not familiar to the area. Officers located the vehicle
and it’s driver. The driver was arrested after he was found in possession of
marijuana. While officers were investigating the first incident a vehicle passing
through the area was stopped at the same location for a traffic violation. That
driver was arrested after he was found to be driving under the influence of
alcohol.

On Thursday, 01-31-2013, at 7:15 a.m. a resident from the 300 block of East
Adams reported a theft to police. Two unlocked vehicles parked in the garage
at the residence were entered overnight. A laptop computer and water density
meter were stolen.

On Thursday, 01-31-2013, at 3:44 p.m. detectives were notified of check fraud
that occurred at a business in the 10900 block of Manchester Road. A fraudulent
check cashed at the business by an account holder. On Friday, 02-01-2013,
detectives arrested the adult suspect. The case will be referred to the St Louis
County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

On Thursday, 01-31-2013, at 11:52 p.m. officers responded to the 100 block
of West Jefferson for a report of a motor vehicle accident. One vehicle struck
another parked vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle was arrested for driving
under the influence of alcohol.

Kirkwood Police arrested four adults for shoplifting merchandise during the week
of Monday, 01-28-2013 through Sunday, 02-03-2013. All four incidents occurred
at the same retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. One of the
adults was charged with felony stealing due to having at least two previous theft-
related convictions. Another arrestee was charged with trespassing in addition to
stealing due to having been involved in a previous theft at the same business.
