Police Beat: 2/11-2/17

On Monday, 02-11-2013 at 2:55 p.m. an adult was arrested for shoplifting from
a business in the 400 block of North Kirkwood Rd. The case was referred to
municipal court.

On Monday, 02-11-2013 at 3:15 p.m. officers responded to 500 block of West
Essex for a possible burglary in progress. The resident arrived home to find the
front door unlocked and the family dog in the basement barking. The resident
retreated to a bedroom and heard footsteps from the basement. The front door
then slammed shut. The resident called police. Nothing was stolen and the
investigation continues by the police.

On Monday, 02-11-2013 at 6:10 p.m. officers responded to the 300 block
of Windgrove for a theft from a vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was parked in
the garage and the garage door was left open. The only item taken from the
unlocked vehicle was change.

On Wednesday, 02-13-2013 at 7:06 a.m. police received a report of a stolen
vehicle in the 9900 block of Big Bend. The owner left the keys in the running
vehicle and went inside a nearby business. The owner returned five minutes later
to discover the vehicle missing. A few hours later the vehicle was recovered with
the help of OnStar in the 4700 block of Alaska in St Louis City.

On Wednesday, 02-13-2013 at 12:07 p.m. resident in the 500 block of North
Crescent called to report destruction of property to a vehicle. Unknown persons
spray painted white and blue paint on the rear of vehicle. The incident occurred
sometime overnight.

On Thursday, 02-14-2013 at 6:07 a.m. officers responded to the 10300 block
of Manchester for theft from a vehicle. The owner returned to her vehicle after
being gone for approximately one hour to find the passenger front window
broken. A purse that had been placed under the front passenger seat was stolen.

On Thursday, 02-14-2013 at 4:39 p.m. while an officer was on traffic stop, she
observed a vehicle pass her driving on three wheels. The vehicle with threewheels was stopped on Rifle Range Road in Kirkwood City Park. After further
investigation, the driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

On Friday, 02-15-2013, at 6:08 p.m. police responded to the 1200 block of South
Kirkwood Road for a theft from a vehicle. Unknown persons broke into a van by
damaging the passenger door lock and stole a laptop that was left on the front
seat.

On Saturday, 02-16-2013, at 10:29 a.m. a vehicle was reported stolen from the
500 block of Creekside. The vehicle, a 2008 Ford Expedition, had the keys left in
vehicle.

On Saturday, 02-16-2013, at 11:18 a.m. a youth’s Trek bicycle was found in the
500 block of Leffingwell. The bike was brought to the Kirkwood Police Station and
held for the owner.

On Saturday, 02-16-2013, at 2:51 p.m. police responded to the 1200 block of
South Kirkwood Road where a victim reported her car broken into and purse
taken from front floor board of vehicle. The purse was the only item missing
from the vehicle.

On Saturday, 02-16-2013, at 6:48 p.m. a adult was arrested for shoplifting
merchandise from a business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The
suspect was charged with Stealing 3rd offense, a felony, due to having at least
two prior theft-related convictions.
