Keep it classy, Kirkwood

Keep it classy, Kirkwood

At Kirkwood, we have so many choices that can be made.  We can choose our classes, we can choose to participate in extracurricular activities, and we can also choose to wear just about anything we want.  Some people wake up, throw on the cozy sweat pants and t-shirt, and walk out the door with granola bar in hand, ready for school.  Then there are the other people who carefully lay out their outfits the night before, preparing themselves for a stylish tomorrow.  Dressing up every day is normal for senior Michael Seifert.  He has a wide array of button-downs, ties, vests, jackets pants, socks, and boat shoes, in every color to choose from.  He looks as if someone picked him up, right out of a New England sailing vessel in a Vineyard Vines catalogue.  Lately, though, every Tuesday night has required him to step up his game just a tad more.  Well-dressed Wednesday started off as an idea with a few friends and is steadily taking a following in the hallways of school.  The Kirkwood Call interviewed Seifert about his style and Well-dressed Wednesday.

KC: Is there anyone who inspires you in the way you dress?

MS: My parents. This is kind of the way I have dressed since I was really young.  I look identical to my dad, looks and dress. My dad was a role model as a kid, so I used to always dress like my dad and still do today.

KC: What is a style rule you think all guys should follow?

MS: Just always looking presentable in anything you do.  I believe that when you look good, you feel good.

KC: Does the same apply to girls?

MS: I believe so.  Girls obviously have a different style than guys, but it’s nice for everyone to look their best and represent themselves well.

KC: Where are your favorite places to shop?

MS: Kim Kuehner Men’s Sportswear in Ladue, Mister Guy, also in Ladue, and I can’t forget Fun in the Sun Sports in Kirkwood.  I also visit family in the south a lot, so I go to Vineyard Vines store in Birmingham too.

KC: What is Well-dressed Wednesday?

MS: It’s a day for anyone to express their classy self.  It’s basically so anyone can dress up and look nice and not feel weird about it.
