Broken phones, broken dreams

Sam Dodd, sophomore
The Kirkwood Call: How did you break your phone?
Sam Dodd: “I was walking down the street and a car drove by and honked at me so I threw my phone at the car and it landed in a puddle.”
TKC: What was your reaction?
SD: “I was a little disappointed and I walked over and it still worked so I was pretty happy but then it died 10 minutes after that.”
TKC: Were your parents mad?
SD: “I didn’t get in trouble because it was a really bad phone, so I just got a new one.”

Kody Gaus, sophomore

The Kirkwood Call: How did you break your phone?
Kody Gaus: “I dropped it in my hot tub twice. The first time it was in my shorts and I forgot about it. Then right when I got it the hot tub I noticed. The second time it just fell in.”
TKC: What is it like having a broken phone?
KG: “It (stinks) because it runs out of battery really fast. I’ll be looking at one little thing and it just dies.”
TKC: What was your reaction when it happened?
KG: “Oh crud.”

Maddy McMullin, junior

The Kirkwood Call: How did you break your phone?
Maddy McMullin: “I’ve broke it three times. The first time it was on my lap and fell off when I got out of the car. A few weeks later my friend texted me and asked me if I had seen my other friend’s new tattoo. I asked him to send a picture of it and he sent me a picture of a tramp stamp that said “insert coins in slot” and I thought he was being serious and I screamed and threw my phone but it turned out he was kidding and that ended up breaking the top half. Then on the first day of school I dropped it in my garage and the glass started falling out and now I just pick it out.”
TKC: What was your reaction?
MM: “This is going to suck until my upgrade in December.”
TKC: What was your parents reaction?
MM: “My dad laughed because it’s the seventh Iphone I’ve broken. He wasn’t mad because he breaks his phones too.”
