KHS installs electronic signs

The traditional marquee signs on the Dougherty Ferry and Essex parking lots are being replaced for scrolling electronic signs. The new signs will display more information to the Kirkwood community.
“The high school is the focal point of our community,” Mike Gavin, sophomore principal, said. “We understand the power of the community knowing what’s happening.”
The funds came in the form of an alumni donation. They are currently being constructed and will be ready at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year.

The electronic signs will cut out the labor required to change the sign and the restrictions the board placed on displayed information.

“Critical to the success at school is effective, up-to-date communication with parents and students,” Gavin said.
