Whether it was shooting on the court, playing a video game or watching and talking about them, sports in some shape or form are carved into my everyday life.

College: University of Missouri

Major: Journalism

My life and sports have always been deeply intertwined. Whether it was shooting on the court, playing a video game or watching and talking about them, sports in some shape or form are carved into my everyday life. Growing up, I loved playing basketball. In my freshman year, I decided that I wanted to play for Kirkwood, and I went to freshman tryouts. I was cut from the team a few days later, which was disheartening, as I had never experienced rejection in the sports world before. However, when I joined TKC at the end of my sophomore year, my passion for sports was reignited.

TKC gave me the opportunity to finally do something I could channel my passion into.

I got to tell my own stories and give TKC new sports content readers could sink their teeth into. I got to start a sports podcast with my best friend and write my own stories for the magazine and website, which were all fun and unique learning experiences. I never thought being a sports journalist was something I wanted to do four years ago, but I’ve learned this is the path I want to take.

Sports will always be a big part of my life, and I get to continue that journey when I attend the University of Missouri as a journalism major. TKC is the reason I am in a position to succeed and I will never forget the impact this program has had on me. I will miss all my friends and teachers at KHS, but I’m excited about the prospect of my future. I can’t wait to come back to tell you guys about it.
