Police Beat: 10/8 - 10/14

On Monday, 10-08-2012, at 2:12 p.m. police responded to a business in the
9600 block of Big Bend in Oakland for a theft report. Two employees reported
cash stolen from their purses while they were working.

On Tuesday, 10-09-2012, at 10:09 p.m. a resident from the 900 block of Edna
called police to report a residential burglary. They resident awoke to noises
emanating from inside the home. The resident investigated and discovered a
window in a bedroom standing open. Nothing was reported missing.

On Thursday, 10-11-2012, at 6:54 a.m. police were summoned to a business in
the 10300 block of Manchester for a report of theft. Two victims reported their
vehicles broken into and purses stolen. Credit cards from the stolen purses were
then used at two other businesses in Kirkwood; one in the 400 block of North
Kirkwood Road and one in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.

On Thursday, 10-11-2012, at 12:01 p.m. police received a report of a motor
vehicle accident involving an occupied school bus on westbound I-44 near Berry
in Oakland. No injuries were reported from the driver or occupants of the bus.
The striking vehicle fled from the scene prior to police arrival. Police later located
the adult driver and arrested her for leaving the scene of an accident.

On Saturday, 10-13-2012, at 7:40 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 600 block
of Wooddell Court for a report of a residential burglary. The victim reported
sometime during the previous overnight hours someone broke entered the home
through an unlocked rear door and stolen a TV, medication, and other various
items from the residence.

On Sunday, 10-14-2012, at 3:51 p.m. officers responded to the 2200 block of
Marshall Road for a report of property damage. The caller reported a known
male acquaintance vandalized her parked vehicle by kicking the front bumper
causing damage. The male was later arrested for property damage. The case
will be referred to the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

Five people were arrested by the Kirkwood Police Department for shoplifting
during the week of Monday, 10-08-2012 through Sunday, 10-14-2012. Two
of the adults face felony theft charges due to one stealing items totaling over
$500 and the other having at least two prior theft-related convictions. Those
two cases will be referred to the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office
for review. All of the offenses occurred at retail businesses in the 1200 block of
South Kirkwood Road.
