Police Beat: 3/25-3/31

On Tuesday, 03-26-2013, beginning at 8:03 a.m. police received seven reports of
vehicle break-ins on Cedarbrook Lane, Thorncliff Lane, and Briargate Lane in the
Osage Hills Subdivision. All vehicles were left unlocked. Change, identification
and credit cards, and two purses were stolen from the vehicles.

On Wednesday, 03-27-2013, at 3:41 p.m. officers responded to the 1200 block
of Orleans for a report of a subject brandishing a handgun. Officers located the
subject as described by a witness. A BB gun similar identical in appearance to
a real handgun was found on the subject. The adult subject was arrested for
assault since he pointed the BB gun at another person. The case was referred to
municipal court.

On Friday, 03-29-2013, at 1:11 p.m. police were summoned to the 100 block of
East Washington for a theft and property damage report. The victim reported
her purse containing cash and credit cards stolen from her vehicle after a window
was broken out. The victims cancelled her credit cards but not before purchases
were made at one business in Maplewood, MO, and two other businesses in
Brentwood, MO.

On Friday, 03-29-2013, at 5:15 p.m. a resident from the 200 block of Midway
notified police her credit card was used fraudulently after it was stolen. The
victim had her purse stolen in Crestwood, MO and when she canceled her credit
cards discovered two unauthorized purchases at a retail store in the 1200 block
of South Kirkwood Road.

From Monday, 03-25-2013, through Sunday, 03-31-2013, Kirkwood Police
received fourteen reports of identity theft related to the Schnucks grocery chain
credit and debit card security breach. All of the incidents involved the victim’s
credit card accounts being used in other states for purchases of various amounts.

Kirkwood Police arrested five adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
businesses during the week of Monday, 03-25-2013, through Sunday, 03-31-
2013. The incidents occurred at retail stored in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of
South Kirkwood Road. Two of the arrested adults were found to be in possession                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    of drug paraphernalia at the time of their arrest. Both were charged accordingly.
