Police Beat: 12/9-12/5
On Monday, December 9, 2013, beginning at 7:05 a.m. police handled four
reports of property damage to vehicles parked in the 800 block of Kings Cliff,
1700 block of Lynkirk and 1900 block of Sunny Drive. The incidents involved
pieces of paper and articles of clothing that were inside the vehicles being lit on
fire.
On Monday, December 9, 2013, at 11:16 a.m. police responded to the 9900
block of Big Bend in Oakland for a delayed report of a larceny from a vehicle. The
victim reported going inside to pay for gas. While inside, a cell phone was stolen
from the front seat of his vehicle.
On Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 11:39 a.m. officers responded to the 1000
block of Huthmaker for a theft report. The victim stated ladders and tools that
had been secured by a padlock were stolen from the rear of the residence.
On Thursday, December 12, 2013, detectives arrested an adult in connection
with a forgery investigation at a retail business in the 1200 block of South
Kirkwood Road. The suspect returned items to the store using forged documents
that mimicked a temporary state ID. Kirkwood Police were assisted by St Louis
County Police in a joint investigation. The case was forwarded to the St Louis
County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office where the suspect was charged with eight
counts of forgery and transferred to the St Louis County Jail.
On Friday, December 13, 2013, at 1:38 a.m. police responded to a residential
alarm in the 200 block of Sugar Creek Ridge. While police were checking the
residence it was discovered that a brick had been thrown through a window.
There was no evidence of anyone gaining access to the residence.
On Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 5:34 p.m. officers were dispatched to
the 12600 block of Big Bend for a motor vehicle accident. Officers arrived and
discovered one vehicle had struck two other parked vehicles and a utility pole.
The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
On Sunday, December 15, 2013, at 1:49 p.m. police responded to a theft report
in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The victim reported leaving her purse
in her vehicle when she went inside a local store to shop. When she returned she
noticed her wallet had been stolen from her purse.
On Sunday, December 15, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. a resident from the 400 block of
North Geyer called police to report theft. The resident discovered that sometime
within the past month someone had stolen a copper downspout from the home.
Kirkwood Police arrested two adults for shoplifting merchandise from an area
business during the week of Monday, 12-09-2013, through Sunday, 12-15-2013.
The incidents occurred at a retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood
Road. One of the subjects was booked for felony stealing and the case was
referred to the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. The
other subject was arrested and referred to municipal court.
